Henrietta Marshall's entertaining biography of this larger than life personality. She takes us through Napoleon's colorful life, from military campaigns to his solitary end on Elba. This story brings Napoleon to life, not just a caricature with hand held in jacket and an aloof look. He achieved much in his life, although not always. Commendable or praiseworthy yet he is famous in the history of Europe for his deeds...or misdeeds. Table of Contents Chapter 01. Napoleon at School Chapter 02. Napoleon an Officer Chapter 03. Napoleon in Egypt Chapter 04. Napoleon as Consul Chapter 05. Napoleon as Emperor Chapter 06. Napoleon and Prussia Chapter 07. Napoleon and Spain Chapter 08. Napoleon in Russia Chapter 09. Napoleon Emperor Elba Chapter 10. Napoleon's Last Battle AUTHOR Henrietta Elizabeth Marshall (1867 - 1941) was a British author, most famous for her works of history for children. COMMENTARY Reviews for Alcazar AudioWorks' production of The Story of Napoleon I hate to admit it, but I've never known much about the details of Napoleon's life. Oh, I knew the basics we all get from our general history readings, but this is the first time I've ever actually looked at his life as a whole. Wow! Whether you ""like"" him or not, this was one impressive man. Also impressive are Henrietta E. Marshall's ability to write a fascinating story and David Thorn's skills at bringing that story to life. As I listened to Thorn's voice share incidents from Napoleon's childhood and tales about battles fought and won...and lost, I was drawn in, captivated, and educated. As a homeschooling parent, I say that is a very good thing! Reviewed By: Larissa McKay - EHO Eclectic Homeschool Online "

H. E. Marshall’s classic children’s chronicle of Britain Our Island Story includes all the best-loved (and most infamous!) stories from history: King Alfred and the cakes; King John and the Magna Carta; Lord Nelson and the Battle of Trafalgar; Queen Elizabeth and the Spanish Armada; and many others. This box set contains the complete and unabridged text, released previously in separate volumes. It is read with aplomb by Anna Bentinck and Daniel Philpott.

Our Island Story by H. E. Marshall is an Edwardian history book for younger listeners (aged six'twelve) which tells the story of England, concluding with the reign of Queen Victoria. Antonia Fraser and many other current historians declare that it was this book that opened the delights of history for them. It fell from fashion in the 1960s, but its recent re-release in hardback has seen it become a publishing surprise in the UK, with sales of some 75,000 copies in a few months. Now, Naxos AudioBooks releases it unabridged in three volumes, divided into three clear periods of history. Though slightly edited to take account of historical changes and attitudes, it is presented unabridged.
