About Opie Jones Talks to Animals

10-year-old Opie Jones is Very Ordinary. In fact nothing remarkable has ever happened to her, if you don't count the cat that gives her funny looks from next door (which she doesn't). So she is naturally very surprised when she is recruited to join The Resistance - a team of superheroes who can read minds, and have a dastardly brainwashing villain to defeat.

HOWEVER it turns out Opie can't read human minds, she can read ANIMAL ones. The other members of the Resistance are very disappointed. And a whole world of animal chat and demands is opening up to her. She's still a superhero, just one on her hands and knees in the mud, chatting to a pedantic worm. But when the brainwashing villain is out to get Opie and her friends, it might just be that listening to all the creatures great and small is what makes Opie Jones the right person to save the world.

Perfect for fans of David Baddiel, My Brother is a Superhero and Lightning Girl.

Amatullah Khatun - Age 10

This book was very funny. It was about a girl called Opie Jones and she is a ordinary ten year old. Recently, she started a new school and she has a best friend called Jackson and he has another friend called Cillian who calls Opie ‘Dopey’ as she is quiet. Cillian and Opie mostly fight over Jackson and who is his best friend.

Opie finds out she has an amazing ability to read animal minds and she has to stop an evil villain Hugo Varling, who wants to take over her school.

The illustration of the animals look so cool and realistic. My favourite character is Margot, the lazy cat.

Florence Smith - Age 8

Opie Jones is an ordinary 10 year old girl … that is until suddenly one day she starts hearing voices in her head. She realises that she has an incredible superpower … well sort of … she can read minds, but not any minds, only animal minds! Reading animal minds isn’t a common superpower, but Opie finds out it does have some uses ... including helping you to get back at your enemies!

Because of her superpower Opie is asked to join the Resistance, a group of unlikely mindreading superheroes, but they can read human rather than animal minds which is a bit more useful! Opie feels that her superhero power is rubbish compared to the other superheroes, but she somehow has to use it to help the Resistance stop Hugo Varling (the local villan) from turning her school into one of his factories and making all the school children work there. She's just not sure if reading animals minds can save the day?

This is a truly mind-blowing adventure book, perfect for kids who like animals, superheroes and adventures! There are lots of funny moments when you can see what different animals are really thinking and I couldn’t put the book down.
