On a visit to a museum, Tom bangs the Aztec drum and so releases an ancient curse which sets him off on a new adventure to find the missing gold coins. But tracking down the coins leads Tom and the new Mohican friends he has made along the way into some very dangerous encounters against the fearsome Mohawk tribes whose skill with the tomahawk is legendary.
