A house full of tiny robbers is a slightly alarming thought. Only the baby and the baby’s teddy can see them it seems, and they are on the rampage, taking dad’s socks, mum’s glasses, grandpa’s wig even! Fortunately, there are tiny cops too, in shiny boots and tidy uniforms to take the tiny robbers prisoner and lock them up in jail. Joel Stewart gives the little people full run of the house and they dash about wherever they please. No attempt is made to explain where these tiny people come from, or go to, and, despite the wonderful every day details in the pictures, and the sheer energy of the characters, there’s something of a dreamlike quality to the story. An unusual and really intriguing book from one of our most talented picture book creators. ~ Andrea Reece
Wanted - the tiny robbers are on the loose! They are a mischievous lot, always looking for something they can take, especially if it is mummy's glasses, daddy's socks, or even grandpa's wig! But don't worry, here come the tiny cops! They've polished their boots, shined their badges, and now they're ready for action! Which is a good thing, because the tiny robbers are after something really BIG this time!
Joel Stewart was brought up in a commune in the wilds of Yorkshire. From an early age he was knocked sideways by stories, and invariably lay on the floor drawing pictures to recover. Later, in the year 2000, he graduated with a first class degree in Illustration from Falmouth College of Art. Ever since graduating (and slightly before) he has been writing and drawing for a living, and has recently moved into animation design and directing for television (while not forgetting books!). He also plays a variety of musical instruments and lives with them and some fish in London. Read about his book here. Read a Q&A with the author here.
